To the delight of the crowds, farming chefs from Italy prepare simple yet divine dishes featuring products from US and Italian farmers paired with Italian wines. This provides the backdrop for serious discussions about the role of farmers markets to promote the taste of place, provide communities with the sovereignty to choose their food, and to give farmers access to new markets to field test the future of flavor and farming. During the three days of meetings and presentations, featured speakers include:

  • Ben Burkett, Indian Springs Farmers' Association
  • Kristie Daniel, HealthBridge Foundation of Canada
  • Riccardo Deserti, Parma DOC
  • Thomas Forster, UN World Urban Forum
  • Vincenzo Gesmundo, Coldiretti
  • Kate MacKenzie, NYC Food Policy Director
  • Richard McCarthy, World Farmers Markets Coalition
  • J. Robin Moon, City University New York Graduate Center
  • Christopher Quinlan, Canadian Farmers Market Coalition
