Acadians Unite! Reconnection and book event at Raven Used Books in Shelburne Falls in Buckland, Massachusetts
I can't wait to return to beautiful Western Massachusetts for this event. If you are within a reasonable drive to the region, I would love to see you. In April 2023, I addressed a small group at the inspiring Shantigar Foundation, together with the nearby Franklin Land Trust. The conversation was a reminder of how universal are the themes in the book, Kuni, to reimagine community in threatened and isolated rural places.
This year, we will expand the conversation, as the discussions in the region are deepening. Acadians Unite! is a civic and cultural forum for bioregional initiatives, presented by the Shantigar Foundation; featuring community partners, thought leaders, town hall style discussions, community presentations, initiative planning, and networking. After a free flowing presentation and discussion, I will sign copies of the book, Kuni: A Japanese Vision and Practice for Urban-Rural Reconnection.
The event is one of a series hosted by the Shantigar Foundation that focuses on land regeneration in this Northeast bioregion. Present thought leaders, cultural experiences, and networking activities, the process of regional reinvention begins. In 2025, they are planning four events, all exploring the theme of KUNI, to strengthen rural-urban bonds in the bioregion and beyond.
