Andes Suite

Geneva is gateway to the Finger Lakes wine trail. Settled in 1788 by Europeans at the top of Lake Seneca, the micro-climate had long served as a settlement for the Haudensaunee people who farmed, trapped, fished, and hunted this territory that comprises the north coast of the United States. Adorned with gorgeous late 19th century architecture of the industry of the Gilded Age, our home is one such example: a Queen Anne Victorian house built in the mid-1990s for L.S. Phillips of the Phillips and Clark Stove Company, made famous for its popular wood-burning stoves, especially the Andes Stove.

Ideal for two people, most guests come for a weekend to hike, explore wine, beer, distilleries, antiques, and the beauty of the region. However, we have also hosted guests for weeks at a time. The City of Geneva describes itself as "uniquely urban." It is true. Though with only 12,000 residents, the feel of the place is urban. With both Hobart, William Smith Colleges and the Cornell Extension, the urbanscape is more of a proper town than, say, the small village one drives through in order to get to the next destination. It is an architectural gem, boasting Richardsonian Romanesque buildings, like the Smith Opera House. Location is everything. Situated on the northwest corner of the 41 mile-long Lake Seneca, it is easy to understand why the name, Geneva, was selected. The sunsets are stunning. The winter landscape is breathtaking. The summers are all about dining outdoors; and the autumn delivers vibrant colors.
